Ludovic Morlot

Ludovic Morlot is Seattle Symphony's Music Director Designate, and he'll step up to the podium this Fall. I chatted with him recently about his plans. The photo was taken backstage during Maestro Gerard Schwarz' 2010-2011 Farewell Season - Maestro Morlot was smiling at Pinchas Zukerman, who was out of the frame. I was being jostled by fans and just couldn't get them both in the same photo! Audio below:

Teodor Currentzis

The sauve and Greek conductor Teodor Currentzis, in the conductor's room at Benaroya Hall after a rehearsal of Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony. Currentzis is here in Seattle to perform four concerts in an all-Russian program. The maestro told me this is his first time in town, and he really likes Seattle - thinks it's very European. When he's not performing a wide repertoire - everything from early music to the Russian romantics, twentieth century music and new works by living composers - Maestro Currentzis says he enjoys progressive rock :)
